The Gunners have made a promising start to the Premier League season under Arsene Wenger’s replacement Unai Emery
Arsenal haven’t lost a Premier League game since a 3-2 loss to Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge in their second Premier League fixture in August.
The Gunners have collected 34 points from their next 14 games in the Premier League to challenge Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur for a top-four finish.
Southampton suffered a 3-1 loss to Tottenham at Wembley earlier this month after the Saints produced a dogged performance under new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl
Arsenal have a mixed record at Southampton over the past couple of seasons, having failed to win six of their last seven games at St Mary’s.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Arsenal to secure just their second victory in eight outings at Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
“Arsenal have scored at least twice in their last seven away games in the Premier League and I expect to see goals at St Mary’s with Unai Emery’s side coming out on top of an entertaining game,” Owen told
“The Gunners have lost just two of their last 17 games against Southampton in all competitions and the hosts are currently on a barren run of 14 games. These are difficult and worrying times for the Saints and I can’t see them getting anything against an in-form Arsenal.”
Arsenal finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a Champions League spot for the second successive season.
Emery’s remit is to lead the Gunners back into the Champions League following two seasons in the Europa League
